BigK Products sell fire, charcoal, barbecues, wood-fired kit, and their new Hyvä store is every bit as quick off the mark as their products.
BigK Products were running on WordPress + WooCommerce, a perfectly solid setup that powers a huge chunk of the web. But as their needs grew, they wanted a platform with commerce at its core rather than as an add-on, and they were finding that real-world performance wasn't where they wanted it to be.
The site was failing Google's Core Web Vitals assessment, and the overall experience felt like it had room to improve. Time for a purpose-built commerce platform.
What we built
We moved BigK onto Hyvä, a modern, performance-first Magento frontend built on Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS. Rather than migrating the old site's constraints, this was a clean-slate build designed to do things properly.
The catalogue itself is fairly compact, which gave us room to go beyond just a functional store. We built out a set of custom CMS page templates to let BigK actually tell their story: proper brand pages with visual polish, not just product listings. Fast and good-looking.
The whole thing went from kick-off to launch in around four weeks.
The results
BigK Products now passes Google's Core Web Vitals assessment on mobile (something the old site couldn't manage) with scores that put them well clear of the average ecommerce site.
An LCP of 1.1s on mobile is genuinely fast for any ecommerce store. An INP of 87ms means the site responds to taps almost instantly. And a CLS of 0 means nothing shifts or jumps as the page loads. A smooth, stable experience from the first interaction.
Going from a failing CWV assessment to these numbers, in four weeks, on a clean new platform. That's what Hyvä makes possible.
