Range of plastic bottles, jars and containers supplied by iBottles

A no-nonsense packaging supplier, now with a no-nonsense fast site to match.

iBottles have been supplying plastic bottles, jars and containers since the early 1990s. Operating from their own five-acre site in the Derbyshire Peak District, they stock a vast range of packaging, from PET and HDPE bottles to cosmetic pots, jerrycans, pails and postal tubes, all available to order online across the UK, Ireland and beyond.

Their existing Luma theme was doing the job, but not as well as it could. A Hyvä Retrofit gave them everything the newer frontend has to offer, without changing a thing customers could see.

What we built

The Retrofit swapped out the Luma frontend for Hyvä's lightweight Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS stack, matching the existing design exactly. For the iBottles team and their customers, everything looked identical. Under the bonnet, the site became significantly faster.

Beyond the core Retrofit, we built out two features that make a real difference to how customers shop. The first is a custom cap selector on product pages, letting customers pick the right cap, spray or pump to go with their chosen container, all from a single product page. Clean, intuitive and a good fit for a catalogue where the lid matters as much as the bottle.

The second is a custom "Customers Also Bought" popup, shown after an item is added to the basket. Populated by real sales data, it surfaces genuinely relevant products at exactly the right moment. It also prompts customers when they're close to a tier price threshold, letting them update their quantity directly from the popup without navigating away. A small nudge that has a meaningful impact on average order value.

Tier pricing across the catalogue rewards bulk buyers and suits iBottles' mix of trade and consumer customers well.

The results

iBottles now passes Google's Core Web Vitals assessment on mobile, with solid scores across the board. For a packaging supplier whose customers are often trade buyers comparing options quickly, a fast and responsive site is a genuine commercial advantage.

An LCP of 1.2s and a CLS of 0 mean pages load quickly and stay stable. The INP of 138ms keeps interactions snappy. The custom post-basket popup puts the right products in front of customers at the right time, and the tier price prompts mean fewer customers leave money on the table.

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, a strong catalogue, fast delivery from their own site, and now a fast website to go with it.
